Hacker jailed for stealing £7.4million of poker chips from online gaming sites

A HACKER who funded his £1,000-a-day gambling habit by stealing millions of dollars of poker chips from gaming sites was jailed for two years yesterday.
Ashley Mitchell, 29, siphoned off 400 billion electronic poker credits from a US company running games on Facebook.
He sold £7.4million of chips using dummy accounts, pocketing around £53,000 for his own use. Defending Mitchell, Ben Darby said: “Gambling completely took over his life.”
Mitchell, of Paignton, Devon, who earns a six-figure salary from his own gaming site, admitted hacking and theft.
Exeter crown court judge Philip Wassall said it had taken “considerable expertise”.
